THE BUSINESS YEAR – MALLORCA FORWARD
16.05.2025
The iconic Cap Rocat hotel served as the setting for an unprecedented event that brought together international leaders from tourism, design, technology, and sustainability, thanks to The Business Year. The day, defined by a spirit of collaboration and forward-looking vision, was a resounding success both in terms of attendance and content, solidifying the island’s position as a global benchmark in the transformation of the tourism model.
For decades, Mallorca has been the cradle of a global tourism model, setting standards that many destinations have sought to replicate. However, today’s challenges — such as pressure on the real estate and housing markets, the need for a shift toward regenerative tourism, and a firm commitment to sustainability and the circular economy — have prompted the island to rethink its path forward.
Today’s event clearly marked the beginning of this new phase. In an exclusive and carefully chosen setting like Cap Rocat, participants shared ideas, experiences, and strategies to redefine Mallorca’s role — not only as a top-tier destination but also as a true innovation laboratory. Through panel discussions, keynote speeches, and networking spaces, the event explored how different sectors can collaborate to promote balanced, environmentally respectful, and socially cohesive growth.
The collective reflection made it clear that the future of tourism in Mallorca is not just about attracting visitors, but about creating lasting value for residents, businesses, and the environment. With this vision, the island not only reaffirms its leadership in the industry but also emerges as an inspiring model for other destinations undergoing transformation.
As members of the Mallorca Design District, we were honored to attend this gathering alongside the district’s president, Gloria Rodriguez, who emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability and the circular economy into the construction sector. Her remarks highlighted how this transformation is crucial not only for tourism but for the entire economic and social fabric of the island.
The success of this event marks a turning point in how Mallorca approaches its tourism future: with intelligence, responsibility, and a renewed ambition to remain a global beacon of sustainable innovation.
